The child of Olimpija, 33-year-old Domen Lorbek, who wore the jersey of the Ljubljana’s club in the previous season and won the title of the national champion as the team’s captain, started the season in Igokea, for which he played in 11 games of the ABA League’s regular season.
Lorbek played for club from Ljubljana many times in his career, for the first time between the years 2000 and 2002, then in the 2016/17 season, and for the last time in this past season. Ljubljana’s own, born in Kranj, won two titles of the national champion of Slovenia (in 2012/13 he did it with Krka Novo mesto), and the title of the Slovenian Supercup champion in 2012, when he was also the MVP of the Supercup.
In Igokea, Lorbek averaged 7.5 points per game, 1.5 rebounds per game and 1.3 assists per game, while playing 21.9 minutes per game. He had his best performance in a game against Crvena zvezda mts, when he scored 12 points, and added tri steals, two assist and one rebound in 34 minutes.
Domen Lorbek told as he returned to Petrol Olimpija: “I am looking forward to the return to Petrol Olimpija and Ljubljana. I have returned to the biggest Slovenian basketball club with no hessitation or thinking to much about it, and we all know, what are the goals for us in this season. We have to think one game at the time, and build our game day by day, from practice to practice, and progress as a team. I believe, that I can help a lot to the young players with my experience, and I am looking forward to the fact, that there will be a lot of talented players by my side, which have a very bright future.”
