DJ Kennedy joins Prometey again after having played with the Ukrainian team most of last season. The American ended the year in Israel
American DJ Kennedy joins Ukrainian Prometey again.
Prometey Slobozhanske has reached an agreement with DJ Kennedy to return to the club for the upcoming season (via EuroCup). Kennedy (1.98 meters, 32 years old) spent the majority of last season with Prometey, but due to the situation in Ukraine, he saw out the campaign with Hapoel Galil Elyon of Israel. Whilst playing for Prometey in 2021-22, he averaged 13.0 points, 6.6 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.3 steals in 20 Ukrainian League matches. He also recorded averages of 12.9 points, 7.1 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.1 steals in 11 Basketball Champions League games for Prometey.
DJ KENNEDY’S CAREER
Kennedy already has experience of playing in the 7DAYS EuroCup from his time at BCM Gravelines-Dunkerque of France and Krasny Oktyabr of Russia during the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons, respectively. However, he only played a combined seven times, during which time he averaged 13.3 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.4 assists.
After spending four years at St. John’s University, Kennedy has gone on to play for 14 clubs during his 11-year professional career: Erie BayHawks and Rio Grande of the G League; Cleveland of the NBA; BCM Gravelines-Dunkerque of France; Hapoel Holon of Israel; Krasny Oktyabr and Enisey of Russia; Riesen Ludwigsburg of Germany; Guangzhou of China; Pınar Karsiyaka of Turkey; Melbourne of Australia; Reyer Venezia of Italy; and then Prometey and Hapoel Galil Elyon last season.
Prometey also announced the return of DJ Stephens.
