DeJuan Blair was not aware of his doping suspension because FIBA notified him to wrong email address

Pesaro is back on the market for a new big man

Il Corriere dello Sport explained what happened with DeJuan Blair, signed by VL Pesaro early in August but suspended for doping by FIBA till 2021.

Blair did not pass an anti-doping test while he was playing for San Lorenzo de Almagro in Argentina back in the season 2017-2018.

FIBA informed Blair of his suspension writing him to to a wrong email address (“it is not my email address” Blair told Pesaro).

After Blair signed the contract, VL Pesaro requested FIBA the transfer. FIBA responded after several days informing Blair, on August 14, that he had played in Uruguay despite the suspension and that is stop could have been doubled if he had played again.

But it is during last weekend that his name for the first time appeared on FIBA’s website among the names suspended for doping.

“We had checked Wada website on July 10” VL Pesaro president Ario Costa said. “There was not his name considering that the website is updated once every three months. On FIBA website his name appeared last night, after we asked FIBA his transfer” Costa added.

Blair traveled to Italy to explain the situation but he won’t remai and Pesaro is on the market for a new big man.
