Crvena Zvezda ends losing streak by prevailing over Virtus
Serbian side improved to 11-20 at the expense of Italian side who fell (94-79) to a fourth consecutive defeat
Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade showed all kinds of pride to end a six-game losing streak with a 94-79 home win over Virtus Segafredo Bologna, which fell to a fourth consecutive defeat. Zvezda, already eliminated from postseason contention, improved to 11-20. Virtus fell to 17-14 with hits fifth loss in six games.
Nemanja Nedovic led the winners with 25 points and dished 7 assists. Joel Bolomboy added 15 points, Milos Teodosic and Dejan Davidovic 11 each, and Luka Mitrovic 10 for Zvezda, who’s passers dished a club-record 30 assists, matching the third-highest total in the EuroLeague this season. Virtus got 25 points from Tornike Shengelia, 15 from Iffe Lundberg and 14 from Marco Belinelli.
The visitors struggled all night to defend and did not lead after Teodosic orchestrated the last 6 points of the first half with an assist, a steal and a three-pointer. Down 59-49 early in the third quarter, Virtus rallied to tie 61-61 in less than 4 minutes, but could not regain the lead. That’s when Nedovic and Teodosic scored or assisted all the points in an 11-0 run that put Zvezda in control the rest of the way.
