Chus Mateo presents Real Madrid’s challenge against Virtus Bologna
Chus Mateo’s words on the eve of his Real Madrid’s EuroLeague match against Virtus Segafredo Bologna.
Real Madrid coach Chus Mateo presented the EuroLeague challenge against Virtus Bologna in a press conference. These are his statements about the match and his team’s moment of difficulty.
Chus Mateo on Virtus Bologna’s court: “We are coming to the end of the Regular Season and everyone wants to position themselves as high as possible. Virtus Bologna’s is a complicated court. We know that and we will try to live up to what our opponents will ask of us.”
On injuries: “Neither Sergio Rodríguez, Rudy and Causeur will be going to Bologna. The first two are still recovering from injuries. They are not serious, but they need time. Causeur felt some discomfort and we don’t want to force him. We hope it’s just an overload, but he wasn’t feeling well.”
On the busy week: “We are only thinking about Virtus. We have an important game over the weekend against the second team in the league at their home, but we will deal with it when the time comes. I have not talked about Unicaja with the team because we are not focused on tomorrow’s game.”
On Real Madrid’s difficult period: “We are not worried about defeats. We continue to work every day. We face an opponent that is fighting to get into the playoffs. They are a physical team that knows how to play basketball, with clear offensive references and good players. We have to be focused. We will have to improve in the rebounding duel and lost balls compared to the last few outings, which could be due to a lack of freshness. It is an important game and we would like to do well, but we know how long the season is and how much we have to fight for titles.”
