Celtics’ Tatum Reflects on Late-Game Decisions in Game 4 Loss
Should the Boston Celtics have called a timeout to set up their final play against the 76ers in Game 4?
Should the Boston Celtics have called a timeout to set up their final play against the 76ers in Game 4? Jayson Tatum discussed it postgame, recalling what happened a year ago.
Back then, with the Celtics trailing by one point against the Brooklyn Nets in the first round of the 2022 NBA playoffs, Boston had recovered a missed shot by Kevin Durant and attacked without calling a timeout, leading to a game-winning basket from Tatum in the final seconds.
“You have to trust that the guys on the floor will make the right plays,” Tatum said during his postgame media availability. “I probably should have passed the ball a second earlier [in overtime], but at the end of regulation, we got a great shot.
“Sometimes the ball goes in, sometimes it doesn’t, but we have a good group of guys who know how to play, especially in those situations. It doesn’t always go the way you want it to.”
