Cedi Osman introduces himself at Panathinaikos: “I’m in the best team in Europe”
Cedi Osman makes his first statements after joining Panathinaikos: these are the words of the Turkish superstar.
Cedi Osman is Panathinaikos’ latest major acquisition: these are the Turkish player’s first words after signing with the Greens. Speaking to paobc.gr, he stressed his enthusiasm for his transfer to Panathinaikos AKTOR, his cooperation with Ergyn Ataman, but also his coexistence with the fans of the Greens.
First, he stood on how he feels about signing with Panathinaikos AKTOR, saying: “I feel very happy. To be integrated into a team that won the EuroLeague and the Greek championship last year and obviously a team that has won the EuroLeague seven times. You know, they’re the best team in Europe. So I’m very happy to be here. Obviously we have a great team, a great coach that I’ve worked with for a long time. I’m very happy that we will have the opportunity to work together again.”
On working with Ergyn Ataman, he went on to say: “You know, it wasn’t exactly a difficult decision for me. Obviously I was following the coach last season, so in a way I was following Panathinaikos AKTOR. Even when I was a kid, I played against them a few times, but now, to be a part of that culture and that team, I’m very happy and proud. I hope we can continue to grow and obviously make it back-to-back to the EuroLeague trophy.”
Osman then gave his message to the fans of Panathinaikos AKTOR: “They are unbelievable. Like I said, I played many times here against Panathinaikos AKTOR. But now, as part of the team, to be able to play in front of these people, in front of these fans, who I think are the best in the world, will be fun. I can’t wait to get on the court and play basketball in front of them.”
While closing, he talked about how important it is to be back in the EuroLeague after so many years, “It’s going to take me some time to adjust back to European basketball and the EuroLeague, but I’m ready. I’m happy to be part of this team, we have a great team, so I think playing with them will help me a lot.”
