Bucks optimistic about Giannis Antetokounmpo’s status

After a lower back contusion forced Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo to leave Sunday’s game early

After a lower back contusion forced Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo to leave Sunday’s game early, coach Mike Budenholzer reported Monday afternoon that the two-time MVP’s MRI was clean.

After colliding with Miami Heat forward Kevin Love in Game 1, Antetokounmpo played just 11 minutes in Milwaukee’s 130-117 loss.

Antetokounmpo did not play Monday afternoon due to a team film session, but Budenholzer said the team was optimistic about his status.

Wednesday night in Milwaukee is Game 2. Budenholzer said Antetokounmpo was lucky to have two days off between Games 1 and 2 to recover. Bucks practice Tuesday afternoon.

“I think still mostly positive, mostly optimistic,” Budenholzer said. “But we’ll see how he feels over the next day or two.”
