Brooklyn Nets point guard Ben Simmons could finally return to the court on Monday against the Utah Jazz after a long absence of nearly two and a half months due to a back injury.

According to sources close to the situation reported by ESPN, Simmons is expected to practice with the Long Island G League over the weekend. Barring complications, he is expected to return on Monday.

Simmons, 27, has been out since 6 November with a lower back nerve compression problem, and has played only six games this season with the Nets.

Arriving after a trade in 2022, he never played in the 2021-22 season and has appeared in 42 games in the past year, averaging 6.9 points, and career lows of 6.3 rebounds and 6.1 assists per game.

Simmons’ career has not maintained the levels of his initial stint with the Philadelphia 76ers, where he was a three-time All-Star, two-time first-team All-Defensive and Rookie of the Year.
