Vitor Benite, the captain of back-to-back champions Hereda San Pablo Burgos, was named 2021 Final 8 MVP by the accredited media at the event.
Benite had a team-high 15 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists with an efficiency rating of 10 in the big Final, leading his team to a 64-59 win over Pinar Karsiyaka.
Russian Basketball Federation President Andrei Kirilenko attended the big Final in Nizhny Novgorod and presented Benite with his MVP award during the title ceremony.
“I told him I always admired him, that I was a big fan of his when he was playing, and then I asked him to hurry up and give me my trophy,” the Burgos captain commented afterwards on his interaction with the Russian legend, with a huge smile on his face.
In the Semi-Final, Benite had a joint team-high 16 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal as Burgos prevailed 81-70 over SIG Strasbourg to seal their passage to the title game.
The Brazil international had his best performance of the even in the Quarter-Final against Hapoel Unet-Credit Holon, pouring in a game-high 26 points and adding 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals for an efficiency rating of 24 as the champions prevailed 86-77.
