The 32-team Regular Season field of the Basketball Champions League’s seventh edition was finalized on Sunday

The 32-team Regular Season field of the Basketball Champions League’s seventh edition was finalized on Sunday, upon the conclusion of the Qualification Round Tournaments that took place in Belgrade, Lisbon, Malaga and Skopje.

Bakken Bears, SL Benfica, Unicaja and Tofas Bursa where the four clubs that prevailed in the Finals of their respective Qualification Round Tournaments and clinched the coveted tickets to the 2022-23 Regular Season.

The Regular Season field will hence feature nine (9) reigning national league champions and the participating clubs represent 16 different European countries, including Portugal for the first time.

The 28-time Portuguese champions SL Benfica are set to become the first ever club from the Iberian country to take part in the BCL, while the 20-time Danish champions Bakken Bears will be returning to the Regular Season for their third BCL campaign in club history.

Two-time Turkish champions Tofas Bursa, who last season narrowly lost to eventual champions Lenovo Tenerife in the BCL Quarter-Finals, will be taking part in the competition for a third time in a row; meanwhile former Spanish ACB league and Korac Cup champions and recent EuroLeague participants Unicaja are gearing up for their second consecutive BCL campaign.

Regular Season action is scheduled to tip off on October 3 and conclude on December 21 with half the teams proceeding to the Round of 16, which will take place from the end of January 2023 to March 2023.

The competition will then enter the Quarter-Finals phase in April 2023 and culminate with the Final Four tournament from where the champions will emerge, in May 2023.
