Barcelona leaves Berlin with 79-95 triumph
FC Barcelona confirmed its position atop the Turkish Airlines Euroleague standings by defeating ALBA Berlin 79-95 at Max-Schmeling-Halle on Tuesday night
A 2-15 run bridging the second and third quarters paved the way for the visitors, who were led by Nikola Mirotic’s 18 points and improved to 20-5. ALBA saw its four-game winning streak at home snapped and fell to 9-14. Despite enjoying a 22-point advantage at the end of the third quarter, the winners had to endure several comebacks from ALBA, which managed to get within 68-78 midway through the third quarter until timely three-pointers by Kyle Kuric helped Barcelona hold on. Besides Mirotic, three other Barcelona players scored in double-figures, as Kuric tallied 14 in just 16 minutes on 4-of-5 shooting from behind the arc, Rolands Smits added 12 plus 6 rebounds, and Nicolas Laprovittola contributed 10 for the winners. Oscar da Silva paced ALBA with 13 points and 5 boards in 16 minutes, followed by Jaleen Smith and Tamir Blatt, who provided 12 and 11 points, respectively, in the losing effort.
