Banks agent on Brindisi statement: “We see this narrative repeated every off-season”

In response to Happy Casa Brindisi’s statement regarding Adrian Banks, his agent, Justin Haynes of BDA Sports, has made the following statement:

Too often in our business when a Player decides not to accept an offer to re-sign with his previous team we hear from team Owners and Presidents that the Player is somehow ungrateful, unappreciative, or is incapable of demonstrating gratitude.  The Player is then forced into the position where he is furthered viewed as being unprofessional or insubordinate if he or she is to respond to such comments.  

We see this narrative repeated every off-season.  Each of these statements are made with the understanding of how harmful they can personally be to a Player and how damaging they can be to their careers.  Therefore, I am calling on all team representatives to discontinue their attempts to negatively brand any player who does not comply to the terms of a contract extension!  Happy Casa Brindisi’s comments today are all too familiar and demonstrate another President’s attempt to brand a Player as selfish simply because he was fortunate enough to receive a stronger economic offer from another employer.  A Player’s gratitude is not simply measured by whether he or she is re-signing with their previous team and that should not be the case with Adrian Banks choosing to continue his career with a new team. 

On behalf of Adrian, I can say that he is incredibly grateful to the city of Brindisi, their fans, sponsors, and the team for their support of him while he was with the  Happy Casa Brindisi organization.  He is forever gracious for the love and opportunity he was given and his decision to resume his career elsewhere will never change that.
