ASVEL starts strong in French final, Monaco goes down in game-1

After a tribute to its president Tony Parker, a commanding defensive performance by Villeurbanne wins them the first act of French Finals.

ASVEL Villeurbanne has beaten AS Monaco 81-71 in game-1 of the French Final, to take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-five series. Leading the way, game-high 14 points (and 7 rebounds) from Livio Jean-Charles. Mantas Kalnietis and AJ Slaughter have added 13 points each for the home team.
Before the game, ASVEL crowd have celebrated its president, four-time NBA champion Tony Parker, in one of his firsts public appearances since his retirement from basketball.
