AS Monaco, Nick Calathes: reaching the Final Four is a very realistic goal
Obradovic: “In Euroleague all clubs are investing even more, so I expect an even stronger competition”
AS Monaco coach Sasa Obradovic during media-day spoke about the upcoming Euroleague season and the condition of his team.
"New faces, new challenges, but always very high ambitions. In Euroleague all clubs are investing even more, so I expect an even stronger competition. Our goal is to continue the quality work of recent years. Also in France the Betclic Elite is improving year by year, now we have three Euroleague teams.
On the team’s preparation and the friendly games: "To be completely honest, I am not satisfied with our preseason. Over the course of the weeks we had several problems. Between the Olympic Games, injuries here and there, we have not been able to train together long enough in the necessary conditions. The last game we played against Valencia is not representative. At the moment we do not have a clear picture of the team we will be this season. Before the start of the Euroleague, we will need to achieve better fitness to highlight our strengths to the fullest. "
Also veteran pointguard Nick Calathes spoke to the media.
“For me, the choice to come to Monaco was an easy one. At this point in my career, my only goal is to win titles. I want to bring my experience and leadership to this team. In my career, I think I have already been in every possible situation. We have a group of veterans who know how to play together, adapt to others and find solutions to make the team work.”
On his first steps with the team: “I like this team, a very enjoyable group. I sense our potential, despite the injuries and our less-than-ideal preparation. As time goes by, we’re going to play better and better together. We’re getting better as a team every day. The Final Four is a really realistic goal, given the quality of our squad and our chemistry. My number 33? I’ve always been a fan of Larry Bird, although I’d love to shoot as well as him!”
