The Italian Union of Basketball Coaches (USAP) expresses its deep disappointment at recent comments in the press, in which managers Fernando Marino, president of New Basket Brindisi, and Tony Parker, of Asvel Villeurbanne, criticised the technical choices and behaviour of their coaches.
At a time when it is crucial to promote values such as fair play, loyalty and mutual respect, USAP emphasises that internal issues should be addressed with balance, responsibility and, above all, a diplomatic approach. Public criticism of members, in this case coaches, who play a crucial role, when it degenerates into name-calling, not only damages the integrity of the game, but creates an unconstructive climate for all parties involved, and is extremely detrimental to the very image of the sport.
USAP strongly reiterates its support for the work and commitment of the coaches involved, recognising the pivotal role they play in the development of teams and the achievement of results. We believe that differences of opinion can be resolved through constructive dialogue and cooperation, avoiding public attacks that can only fuel tensions.
We hope that all parties involved will reflect on the consequences of their public statements and return to fostering a climate based on trust, respect and cooperation, which are essential values for growth and unity in the world of sport.
We remain firmly committed to our support for coaches and to reinforcing the fundamental value of sport as a means of unity and growth.
