Sergio Llull’s contract with Real Madrid will expire in 2021, when he will be 34.
But since he has been drafted by the Denver Nuggets with the 34th overall pick in 2009, with the Houston Rockets that paid $2M to acquire him, the franchise from Texas is trying to convince him to move overseas.
Ernest Berengue, agent for Sergio Llull , said that the Spanish guard never completely closed the doors to the NBA.
“Since he was drafted, every summer the Rockets have tried to sign Sergio Llull . It happens each summer, they never gave up” Ernest Berenguer told NBA Spain. “Daryl Morey and Gersson Rosas always show their interest in the player and their wish to have him in Rockets’ jersey. Daryl and Gersson always are in contact with us” Berenguer added . “Sergio is a leader and a winner. More important is his role in the team, the better is for him. This could be one of the reasons why he never moved to the NBA. He prefers to be protagonist with Real Madrid and earn less money than what Houston could offer” Berenguer continued. “Future? We will consider everything. Sergio lives day-by-day. Every year that passes, the possibility for him to go to the Rockets are less likely. But he never completely ruled out the possibility to join the NBA”.
