Since the onset of the pandemic, the ACB has shown that our priority as an organization has been, is and will be health security. We were the first to make a bubble in the Final Phase in Valencia. In this season, we have decided to postpone 15 games to date due to any hint of doubt about health guarantees for participants. For greater coordination and health safety we have incorporated Dr. Luis Serratosa into our association, in permanent contact with experts.
Our second great concern is the gradual return of the fans. For this, we have designed an absolutely secure access protocol to the stands. It is a complete plan, which covers all aspects, from the entrances to the location of the fans and what they can and cannot do inside the venues.
From the ACB we have proposed to the government to open the games to 500 people, the same figure that the CSD has recommended to non-professional sports indoors, and with the guarantee offered by our health model. The negative impact on the economy of our clubs is considerable and the great responsibility they have shown in recent months deserves confidence for the progressive return of their fans with maximum safety.
In cultural events such as theater or concerts, there are much larger percentages of allowed capacity, while in professional basketball there can be no audience in the stands. It seems that it does not make much sense and we consider that an exercise of proportionality is necessary.
We all understand that it is a complicated time and that we must enjoy sport in a different way, taking extreme security measures, but the basketball fans of our nineteen clubs deserve to return as soon as possible in a gradual and safe way.
